POSTGRADUATE CYPRIOT ARCHAEOLOGY (POCA) 2024 21ST MEETING, TRINITY COLLEGE DUBLIN, THE UNIVERSITY OF DUBLIN IN MEMORY OF PROFESSOR PETROS FLORIDES

Postgraduate Cypriot Archaeology (PoCA) 2024 21st Meeting, Trinity College Dublin, The University of Dublin In memory of Professor Petros Florides

Call for papers

The Department of Classics at Trinity College Dublin invites postgraduate students and early career researchers to submit their papers for the 21st Meeting of Postgraduate Cypriot Archaeology (PoCA). The meeting will take place from the 21st to the 23rd of November 2024 in Dublin. It will be held in a hybrid form with both remote and on-site attendance.

PoCA aims to bring together Master’s graduates, PhD students and fresh postdoctoral researchers (within six years of the completion of their PhD), from various backgrounds and disciplines of Cypriot archaeology to present their research, meet colleagues who work in the same domain and exchange ideas in a friendly and collegial environment. One of PoCA’s main objectives and conceptions is the organisation and publication of the conference by doctoral students for doctoral students and recent postdocs. This year’s conference returns to Dublin after almost 20 years since its last organisation in 2005; and it is dedicated to the loving memory of Prof. Petros Florides, an ambassador of Cyprus in Trinity (and Ireland more broadly).

Participation in the conference is free of fees for both on-site and online presentations. Participants who attend in person will, however, need to make their own travel and accommodation plans and arrangements. The organising committee will provide travel information and a list of affordable accommodation.

All interested researchers are requested to send their paper proposals, including the title, name, affiliation and year of studies or graduation of the author(s), address and an abstract of no more than 250 words, as well as their preference for on-site or online presentation, to pocadublin24[at]gmail[dot]com no later than the 31st of May 2024. Communications should be 20 minutes long, followed by 10 minutes discussion. The official language of the conference is English.

Participants are advised that papers reporting on excavations or excavated finds from the occupied area of Cyprus will not be accepted.

We intend to publish the papers presented at the meeting. All submissions will be subject to peer review. Further information about the publication will be given during the meeting.

We look forward to welcoming you in Dublin!
